Pennoyer Family Newsletter - 8/26/22

Pennoyer Families,

I hope everyone is enjoying these last couple of weeks of summer with their families.  Pennoyer is really shaping up and we can’t wait to see our entire staff next week, and then welcome our students back for the 2022-2023 school year on Tuesday, September 6th!  Check out the new section of this newsletter that celebrates our wonderful staff and students from week to week called, “We Celebrate at Pennoyer!”  *Please let me know if you don’t want your student mentioned in these celebrations.  It will usually be groups of students/classes that I will highlight.  As you can see this year, I’ll continue to use the blog format that I heard families appreciate.  It has helpful features that translate languages and archive previous blogs if you ever want to go back to newsletters from past weeks.  Enjoy the second round of Mr. G’s corner…

We Celebrate at Pennoyer!

This week it’s all about our new teachers!  They really worked hard all week and took in a lot of information during New Teacher Orientation.  I was so proud of each and every one of them, and can already tell this is a special group that our students are so lucky to have.

What’s Around the Corner?

  • Release of student schedules in Skyward - Wednesday, August 31st after 4pm
  • Supply Drop Off/Meet the Teacher - Thursday, September 1st from 1:45-2:30pm
    • This will be a quick drop off of supplies and a chance just to say hi to your teacher(s) and see a friendly face.  Due to continued construction and areas being completed, we ask that parents and students not linger in the building or wander around to see previous teachers/classrooms.  We really appreciate your cooperation and understanding and glad we can do some type of supply drop off and a quick meet the teacher!
  • First day of school for PreK-8th - Tuesday, September 6th
  • Back to School Bash - Friday, September 9th from 4-6pm
  • Meet & Greet the New Principal Night! - Monday, September 12th from 6-7pm
    • Check out this flier and Save the Date
  • *(New Item) New Family Orientation Night-Wednesday, September 14th from 6-7pm
    • Check out this flier and Save the Date
  • *(New Item) Curriculum Night for all grades PreK-8th - Wednesday, September 21st (More information to come…please SAVE THE DATE!)
  • *(New Item) Please make sure your student has updated medical records on file with the school nurse and Pennoyer before Monday, September 29th.  We don’t want to exclude any students from the first day of school, so please get these into us.  Here’s a blurb from our school nurse…

A current health examination and proof of immunizations is required for all students entering Pre-K, Kindergarten and 6th Grade (dated within 1 year of the first day of attendance for the current school year.) If your child is new to Pennoyer, but has previously attended school in Illinois, the health examination record must be obtained from the previous school and provided to Pennoyer on or before August 29, 2022 for the upcoming 2022/2023 SY. If for any reason immunization cannot be brought up to date prior to the school opening date, a note of intent must be signed by the physician that your child has begun or will begin the necessary immunization procedures.

Sincerely,

Adam

Pennoyer Principal
