Family Newsletter 9/16/22

Pennoyer Families,

We had a great week two at Pennoyer!  It started out on Monday, being able to come to school with a huge Bears win over the 49ers in the sloppy rain conditions from Sunday!  Everyone wrote us off, but true Bears fans know what's up.  Ok, I won't get ahead of myself, but we have to enjoy every little thing we can with our Chicago Bears.  Monday night I had the opportunity to speak to a group of parents at the Meet & Greet the New Principal Night I hosted at Pennoyer.  I appreciated the turnout, and if you missed it, check it out on our Hawks Media Channel.  I would also love for parents/guardians to take a minute to fill out this Google Survey if you haven't already about monthly meetings I want to host this year with Pennoyer parents/guardians where we can Connect, Collaborate, and Celebrate together.  Tuesday night, our PTC hosted their first meeting of the year, and there were so many thoughtful ideas thrown out.  They have a lot of great events planned this year and are always looking for more volunteers to get involved.  As we rolled into Wednesday, we got a chance to welcome our newest families into our Pennoyer community at our New Family Orientation Night.

Looking ahead to next week, we have our annual Curriculum Night for all PreK-8th grade parents/guardians to attend on Wednesday, September 21st.  The schedule and information is linked HERE, as well as below.  Highlights to know...

  • PreK-5th grade parents/guardians will get to choose ONE 15 min. time slot to attend with their student's classroom teacher between 5:30-6:25pm.
  • All middle school 6th-8th grade parents/guardians will get to walk through a schedule of their student's classes from 6:30-7:30pm.  All middle school parents/guardians will begin Curriculum Night in the gym for a 15 min. presentation from Principal Greenberg.
  • Parents can park in the West parking lot of Pennoyer, find street parking, or park at the Salvation Army.  Teachers will be parking in the back lot of the school.
  • PTC will have a table set up in the MPR to buy Spirit Wear, calendars, and information about joining the PTC.  The Book Fair will also be open during some of the time during Curriculum Night in the LRC (library) if you're interested!
  • Any questions, please reach out to the main office, myself, or your student's teachers.

We Celebrate at Pennoyer!

There were so many opportunities to connect with Pennoyer families this week, so I'd like to take this opportunity to celebrate all of our parents/guardians.  You have all made me feel so welcome from the very start, and I really appreciate it.  I can't thank you enough for all of your trust and support.  From arrival time, to dismissal time, to all of the many events so far, I have really enjoyed getting to know and meet so many of you.  Pennoyer is truly a special place because of all of you, and I know how lucky I am to be here.  Here's a pic from the New Principal Meet & Greet I hosted on Monday night...
