It was a good first week of March!  Winter certainly looks like it's gonna hang around for a little bit like it usually does around here.  I hope everyone is finding time on the weekends to unwind and spend quality time with family and friends.  We all know how important it is to stay connected and take care of ourselves.  I continue to be impressed with the level of dedication and support from all of our families and staff members.  I know our students are benefiting from a strong community around them, and I can't thank you all enough.  Enjoy the weekend, and I'm counting down to March Madness and my Kansas Jayhawks in the NCAA basketball tournament...I love this time of the year!

School Information and Reminders:

Please take a moment as parents/guardians to take the Illinois 5 Essentials survey if you haven't done so already. Your participation in the parent portion of the survey will help us reflect on family perception of the Pennoyer experience, and this feedback will guide our continued growth and improvement. Your identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.

The Illinois 5Essentials Survey will be open through March 31, 2023. To take the survey please, click this link http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/  Please make sure to put in “Cook” as the county and start typing in and select Pennoyer Elem School in the appropriate box when it pops up.

We Celebrate at Pennoyer!

This week we're celebrating our 5th graders, along with Mrs. Shearer, Mr. Widd, and Officer Steven Deutscher as they begin their journey through the D.A.R.E program at Pennoyer.  This was week one where students started to understand the importance behind the program and getting to know a little bit about the things they'll be learning moving forward.  In the D.A.R.E program, 5th graders will be visited by Norridge Police Officer Steven Deutscher once a week until near the end of the school year, when they'll be ready for a celebration and graduation of the program.  The D.A.R.E program is more than just about the avoidance of substance abuse and its downfalls, it's also a program that teaches students how to make healthy choices in life, build solid relationships, and understand how to support themselves and others when faced with difficult or dangerous decisions.  We're lucky to have this partnership with the Norridge Police Department and give our 5th graders this opportunity to grow and learn.
