Pennoyer Family Newsletter - 8/18/23

Pennoyer Families,

What an amazing week we've had leading up to our first day of school next Tuesday, August 22nd!  Our staff has worked so hard to get their spaces ready for our students to return, and high levels of collaboration and professional development have filled our work week.  It was so great ending the week with our Meet the Teacher/Supply Drop Off on Thursday.  Looking on as so many families and students walked the hallways, brought Pennoyer back to life, and it was a great opportunity to connect with one another.  Seeing so many smiling faces and getting hugs, high fives, and fist bumps, it just reminded me what an incredibly special place we have in our little school community.  I couldn't be more proud and excited to kick off the 2023-2024 school year as your principal!

We Celebrate at Pennoyer!

We celebrated our Opening Institute Day as an entire staff on Tuesday, August 15th with an opportunity to bring keynote speaker Leo Perez to Pennoyer to help kick things off.  I have a longtime connection with Leo that dates back to our middle school years when we became teammates on our wrestling team together.  That connection has lasted for over 35 years, so when the opportunity presented itself to have Leo come to our school and address our entire staff with his inspiring story, I couldn't pass it up.  He did not disappoint.  Leo's story really hit home with our vision and focus as a school community.  It was the teachers and coaches in his life that became mentors to him both in and out of the classroom that made Leo into the successful man he is today.  These individuals didn't back down, and they never gave up on him no matter what.  That type of relationship building and dedication helped Leo become a three sport All State athlete in high school, a full scholarship football player at Purdue University, a successful businessman in computer safety software programming.  We celebrate Leo and the power and influence of our dedicated staff and all they do for students in and out of the classroom each and every day!
