Pennoyer Family Newsletter - 9/22/23

Pennoyer Families,

This week you should have received an email with a letter from Pennoyer and PBIS Rewards that includes a specific QR code for your student.  Just follow the directions, download the app first, and get connected!  It only takes a minute.  We're strongly encouraging ALL of our families to sign up for PBIS Rewards at Pennoyer and download the app.  This a valuable way to see all of the positive things your student is doing, connect with teachers, and be alerted when there are referrals if situations arrive that might need some behavioral interventions with your student.  It's truly a great way to keep open lines of communication.  Check out this VIDEO about PBIS Rewards.  You can check out this VIDEO as well about downloading and connecting on the family app.  Reach out to teachers, our student services team, or administration with any questions.

School Information and Reminders:

*Please remember that after school each day, we must close our playground to students and families in our back lot.  This is due to safety and supervision constraints.  Please understand and help us keep your children off the playgrounds after school.  Our supervisors are out there monitoring pick up and then need to leave and lock up in a timely manner.  Thanks for your support with this!

**Please also remember when parking at the Salvation Army during dismissal time, you MUST use a designated parking spot in their lot.  Cars cannot park in front of the building by the sidewalk where students are walking.  This is really a safety concern, and we want to keep our cooperative partnership with Salvation Army.  They really go out of their way to give our families the ability to have options during arrival and dismissal times.  Thanks for your understanding!

We Celebrate at Pennoyer!

We have such great students at Pennoyer and so much to celebrate, and this week, it's all about a special group of 7th and 8th graders that went above and beyond during our Circus Amongus event last week!  These student leaders truly shined as they supported activities throughout the morning.  They helped the adult volunteers with running the stations and were great roles models for our younger students.  In the afternoon, these amazing 7th and 8th graders got ready for their own acts, and also supported getting wardrobe and make up ready for all of our other students for the big show!  We're so lucky and grateful to have so many students just like these that are willing to step up and be leaders for their peers.  #PennoyerPride forever!!!

What’s Around the Corner?

  • Fall (Student Led) Parent/Teacher Conferences are coming up on Thursday, October 5th.
    • HERE is a link to all of the sign ups if you're interested.  Teachers will send out communication to families as well.  Remember these are Student Led Conferences for the K-8th graders, so make sure they attend with you.  Please note though, any conferences with our Fine Arts/PE staff will be just parent/teacher conferences so students aren't doing presentations more than once.  Also, our PreK-8th grade will have 15 minute time slots to sign up for, while 6th-8th will have 10 minute time slots to accommodate families who may want to see multiple teachers.
  • Erin's Law student presentations - These will take place in the classrooms for students sometime on September 27th, September 28th, and October 2nd.  HERE is a letter from Mrs. Slawson detailing Erin's Law and the focus to support our students here at Pennoyer.

Sincerely,

Adam

Pennoyer Principal
